For most of my career, "enough" was a moving target. Every milestone I reached quietly redrew the line a little further out. A bigger round. A bigger team. A bigger version of the company — and of me.
It took me an embarrassingly long time to notice the pattern: that no number, no launch, no outcome was ever going to deliver the feeling I kept expecting it to. The goalposts weren't just moving. I was moving them.
The cost of an impossible standard
When the standard is impossible, every day ends in a small deficit. You did a lot — but not enough. You moved fast — but not fast enough. Over time that deficit compounds into something heavier: the sense that you, personally, are the thing that's insufficient.
Leading from clarity instead
Redefining enough isn't lowering the bar. It's choosing a bar you can actually see — one tied to the work and the life you're really building, not to an anxious internal scoreboard that never settles.
That's where this book began.
